The star has handed over the entirety of his £25,000 honor prize money to the Music Venues Trust, which works to preserve the Britain's independent music venues.

He was presented with the award on October 16 as his latest record the album was chosen as the outstanding release of the last 12 months.

The musician has opted to give the cash to the MVT, in appreciation of the essential function local spots played in his beginning days.

"I couldn't be pursuing this success if it hadn't been for all the performances I played around the region, and further afield, when I was just getting going," stated Fender. "These spaces are legendary, but they are facing challenges."

Beginning in 2023, at least 150 of these venues have permanently closed – approximately one-sixth of the entire UK sector.

Recently, well-known musicians such as Pulp, Coldplay, Katy Perry and Ed Sheeran have all aided the Music Venues Trust in its initiatives to support the industry, by applying a small levy to their ticket costs, which benefits independent venues.

Sam Fender also participated, generating over £100k on his live tour to support numerous grassroots venues across the UK.

The donation helped locations that were facing potential shutdown due to issues stemming from floods, fire incidents and personal losses, as well as regulatory hurdles, court cases and noise complaints.

Additional spaces were granted funding support in modernizing facilities and sound and lighting systems that helped artists and audiences.

"The idea that money from performances in large arenas backs the independent spots, where it kicks off for artists like me, is just common sense," Sam Fender has commented.

In recent years, they donated their funds to the youth organization that developed their act, in addition to other grassroots music organisations.

Additionally winners that year the group gave their prize to a charity for MS after a acquaintance was identified with the condition.

"Winning was ample," said singer the singer. "The cash was the extra but we could do without the bonus, because we had the main prize. So our victory affected another person's life."

In the past week, the Music Venues Trust shared it had protected a couple of grassroots venues in the South East, by transferring them to community ownership.

One venue in Southampton and the other in the city were bought under the public acquisition scheme, which is funded by the arts council and supporters who acquire "ownership units" in the venues.
