Vehicles in Germany's Town Discovered Covered with Nazi Symbols in Human Blood, Police Confirm

Incident location Affected vehicle Area Police
Police mentioned they were notified by a individual who found a vehicle in Hanau marked with red-colored fluid

Roughly 50 vehicles have been smeared with what appears to be human blood in the Germany's municipality of Hanau near Frankfurt, as reported by law enforcement.

Automobiles, exterior walls and mailboxes were vandalized, sometimes with Nazi symbols, they stated in a statement.

Police say they were alerted late on Wednesday, when a resident noticed that a vehicle in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish substance.

The substance had been drawn in the shape of a Nazi symbol, they reported.

Law enforcement then located many other marked automobiles and residential walls in the adjacent neighborhood.

Swastikas are illegal in Germany under laws prohibiting the visible presentation of Nazi-era symbols.

Police report early analysis show the substance was most likely human bodily fluid.

"Currently there is no lead as to its origin; officials are not yet cognizant of any physical harm in relation with the incident," they commented.

City officials said they were trying "to solve the case" and have asked to the community for tips.

An important political figure said the incident made him without words and required to be resolved rapidly.

"This event strikes at the core of Hanau and revives the wounds of the extremist terrorist attack half a decade ago," he stated on social media, referring to the killing of nine victims by a assailant aiming at people of migrant background in 2020.
